Description
Trimble Cityworks versions prior to 15.8.9 and Cityworks with office companion versions prior to 23.10 are vulnerable to a deserialization vulnerability. This could allow an authenticated user to perform a remote code execution attack against a customer’s Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) web server.

Trimble Cityworks contains a deserialization vulnerability in versions prior to 15.8.9 (Cityworks) and 23.10 (Cityworks with Office Companion). An authenticated attacker can send specially crafted serialized data to the Microsoft IIS web server, causing insecure deserialization that leads to arbitrary code execution on the host system.
Mitigation
Upgrade Cityworks to version 15.8.9 or later, or Cityworks with Office Companion to version 23.10 or later. If immediate patching is not possible, restrict network access to the IIS web server and review authentication controls.
