Description

On F5 BIG-IP 16.1.x versions prior to 16.1.2.2, 15.1.x versions prior to 15.1.5.1, 14.1.x versions prior to 14.1.4.6, 13.1.x versions prior to 13.1.5, and all 12.1.x and 11.6.x versions, undisclosed requests may bypass iControl REST authentication. Summary dbcve.org

Critical authentication bypass vulnerability in F5 BIG-IP's iControl REST interface. Certain undisclosed requests can bypass authentication controls, allowing unauthenticated access to the management API on affected versions. The flaw is remotely exploitable over the network with no credentials required, making exposure of the iControl REST endpoint (typically on the management interface) a direct compromise vector.

Mitigation

Upgrade F5 BIG-IP to a fixed version: 16.1.2.2, 15.1.5.1, 14.1.4.6, 13.1.5, or later within the respective major release. As an interim measure, restrict network access to the iControl REST interface (port 443 on the management IP) so it is not reachable from untrusted networks, and disable iControl REST if not required.
